Yesterday, following an increase in cases of COVID-19, the Prime Minister announced new lockdown restrictions across England. This includes restaurants, bars and pubs having to close after 10pm from this Thursday for the foreseeable future. However, the Prime Minister has explicitly said that delivery services can remain available throughout this period, which means you can continue to order from your favourite local restaurants and grocery shops whenever you want - even after 10pm.

We're here to deliver for you, just as we're here to deliver for our restaurant partners who we want to support now more than ever.

Delivering for you safely
We're focused on ensuring delivery with Deliveroo is safe at all times. The UK Government has said that people staying at home should continue to order meals as COVID-19 is not known to be transmitted by exposure to food or food packaging. Below are some of the measures in place to help make sure you can order safely.

Contact-free delivery
We've launched mandatory contact-free delivery so your rider will leave your order at your door or at a location you have specified when you made your order. This is to ensure that social distancing is maintained from the moment your order is picked up to the moment your order is delivered to you. We've also introduced mandatory contact-free pick up at restaurants.

In app food hygiene ratings
We've made FSA hygiene ratings available to you in the app, so you can filter and sort for restaurants with the highest hygiene rating. We've also created a dedicated '5* hygiene' tile in the app so you can easily find restaurants with the highest hygiene ratings in your area.

Hygiene is key
Your safety is our number one priority. Based on guidance from Public Health England, we advise that you wash your hands thoroughly as soon as you've received your food order and before you eat it.

Supporting our riders
We've been providing riders in the UK with face masks and hand sanitiser free of charge. Also, riders who are told to self-isolate by a medical authority or who are unwell are given financial support, so riders don't have to work if they are unable to.

Keeping our communities safe
Throughout this time, we have provided riders and restaurants with consistent advice based on the official guidance that has been published by the authorities. We want them to be informed in order to keep you safe.
